Kneseth Israel Hebrew School Tu B'Shevat SederSunday, February 4, 2007
Kneseth Israel Hebrew School participated in a Tu B'Shevat Seder and learned about the "Jewish New Year of Trees" celebrated on the 15th day in the month of Shevat. This minor holiday relates to the various tithes that must be separated from produce grown in the Holy Land. It is customary to eat fruit, particularly from the "Seven Kinds" that are singled out by the Torah in its praise of the bounty of the Holy Land. The fruits and grains include wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates. Above are one of the decorations and a table full of these fruits and grains. Below are photos of the many happy faces of our Hebrew School children, their teachers, and the staff.
